Wayne Lowell
Director
Wayne Lowell has served as a TriNet Director since 2009. He has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare and transportation industries. From 1998 to present, he has consulted with boards of directors, CEOs and CFOs of public and private equity-sponsored organizations involving strategic, financial and operating issues. He spent 12 years with PacifiCare Health Systems, ultimately as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial and Chief Administrative Officer.
Since leaving PacifiCare in 1998, a number of Wayne’s activities have resulted in companies dramatically increasing their profitability and cash flows, complete external financings, and provide attractive returns for investors. While at PacifiCare, he presided over the company’s market capitalization growing from $40 million to almost $4 billion and a FORTUNE 200 ranking. During his tenure as CFO, PacifiCare’s compound return to shareholders was almost 30% per year.
As PacifiCare’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Wayne was responsible for information technology, customer service, human resources, regulatory compliance, claims processing and enrollment. Under his leadership, information systems response time improved 67% while costs were reduced 30%. Also, operating efficiencies achieved while he was CAO resulted in $20 million annual savings while at the same time improving the responsiveness to local markets.
Wayne earned an MBA with honors from the University of California at Irvine. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Wayne is a Certified Public Accountant. The Institute of Management Accountants named him “CFO of the Year” in 1991 and CFO magazine honored him one of the top 100 CFOs in 1992.
