Steve Carlson
Chief Information Officer
Steve Carlson joined TriNet in 1995 and currently serves as its chief information officer. In this role, Carlson oversees all aspects of the company's information technology (IT) and systems including strategic direction and alignment to business strategy, IT infrastructure planning, systems development and deployment, internet/intranet initiatives, Oracle-PeopleSoft platform implementation and related services provided by the information systems department. Carlson's 20 years of experience in information technology also includes more than 15 years of management experience.
Prior to joining TriNet, Carlson founded Carlson*Burke, Inc. (CBI), a systems integration company specializing in UNIX and networking solutions, in 1987. CBI provided systems design, installation, programming, training and support to more than 150 clients, and was designated as an Advanced Product Center (APC) for The Santa Cruz Operation and an Informix Value Added Partner.
Previous to that, Carlson served as western district manager with General Electric Information Services (GEIS), where he was responsible for order entry systems and supervised more than 30 consultants and developers. During Carlson’s tenure, GEIS developed the first worldwide order entry system for San Francisco-based Levi Strauss and Company, and served as product manager for electronic software distribution.
Carlson received his bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
