VP Named a Premier 100 IT Leader for 2010
Computerworld honor the latest in a string of “rising star” recognition for HR outsourcing IT executive Vito Melfi .
SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (December 15, 2009) – TriNet, the country’s second-largest provider of human resources outsourcing solutions to small businesses, today announced that Vice President of IT Operations Vito Melfi has been named a Premier IT leader for 2010 by IDG’s Computerworld magazine. It marks the second such honor for the information technology veteran this year, as CIO magazine named Melfi to its 2009 CIO Ones to Watch list in May. Melfi, who works out of TriNet’s Bradenton, Fla., office, was also a recent finalist for the ITFlorida award for technology, which spotlights IT leaders within the state.
“I’ve said from the beginning that we acquired Gevity for its people and although these honors celebrate one team’s work, they also serve as a testament to a company’s culture of innovative thought leadership,” said Burton M. Goldfield, TriNet’s president and CEO. “Vito’s leadership to cover both the technology and business sides of our company does more than just keep the lights on; he and his team keep TriNet at the top of the industry.”
The recent recognition was published in Computerworld’s December 7 issue, which profiled each of the 100 honorees who “manage internal IT organizations, mentor and motivate their IT teams with interesting challenges, envision innovative solutions to business problems and effectively manage and execute IT strategies.” Melfi will also be honored at an awards ceremony in conjunction with the outlet’s 11th annual Premier 100 IT Leaders conference next March in Phoenix.
“The Premier 100 awards program shines a spotlight on the best of IT leadership and innovation,” said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. “Despite a tough economy, these senior IT leaders are seizing this rare moment to steer measured growth, embark on innovative pilots and build loyalty in their most valued workers. We’re pleased to honor the achievements of these 100 men and women who epitomize calm and steady IT leadership.”
Computerworld is the leading source of technology news and information for IT influencers worldwide. It first created the Premier 100 in 2000 to spotlight individuals who have had a positive impact on their organization through technology. Each year nominees are invited to complete a survey that addresses a number of topics, including their background and experience and their attitude toward risk and innovation Information on previous honorees can be viewed here.
Melfi, who came to TriNet through the company’s acquisition of Gevity earlier this year, received the CIO award based on a nomination by Hewlett-Packard for his leadership, innovation and value. For the ITFlorida award, he was one of 243 nominations, in 16 different award categories. As one of 60 finalists, Melfi also received a congratulatory letter from U.S. Senator Bill Nelson.
“Our team has been focused on the company’s recent acquisition and meshing together best practices to build a scalable technology framework for our employees, clients and partners,” added Melfi. "I'm fortunate to receive this award as an individual, but it’s really representative of the heart and soul of each of our IT team members and their dedication to their roles of establishing TriNet’s dominance as a technological innovator in the PEO industry.”
Melfi came to Gevity in January 2007 and prior roles include senior leadership position at Gartner, Mercator Software, Cendant Corporation, Dun & Bradstreet and Pepsi Cola International.
