HopeLab Gains Efficiencies, Increases Productivity with TriNet
HopeLab is a non-profit organization that develops technology-based interventions to improve the health and quality of life for chronically ill adolescents and young adults. Their innovative work focuses on the needs of young people confronting cancer, obesity, sicklecell disease, autism and major depressive disorder. HopeLab's first product was a video game for young adults and adolescents with cancer. This game, called Re-Mission, features a microscopic "nanobot" named Roxxi who, at the player's direction, travels through the body blasting away at cancer cells and bacteria with a sidearm loaded with chemotherapy drugs and antibiotics.
HopeLab's team includes experts in research, psychology, game development, nutrition, communications, health law and policy, and organizational development. As a small but growing organization, HopeLab wanted to gain internal efficiencies by outsourcing core HR services such as benefits and payroll administration. The executive team knew they needed an outsourcing partner that would allow them to focus on mission critical work, while providing access to better services and competitive benefits.
The TriNet Difference
Chris Murchison, Vice President of Staff Development for HopeLab, has worked with several outsourcing vendors over the years, but none were able to meet the organization's criteria for a strong partnership - credibility, technical expertise, customer service excellence and ease-of-access. TriNet, however, delivered on all counts.
"A lot of partners claim to meet all of these criteria," Murchison said, "but TriNet has proven to be true to their word. Through TriNet, our employees have access to a broad selection of quality benefits, and our HR staff has access to a knowledgeable and effective business partner."
As a technology-based company, HopeLab employees understand the importance of access to web-based services. They enjoy 24-hour access to employment and benefits information through HR Passport™, TriNet's secure online portal. Self-service tools also substantially reduce the cost of routine HR transactions. "HR Passport™ is a fantastic and reliable onestop- shop," Murchison said.
Hands-On Service
An integral part of HopeLab's team is the TriNet Human Capital Consultant. Viewed as a business partner, the consultant is an effective sounding board, employee-relations advisor, benefit services coordinator, and even a resource for employee insurance claims. "Our Human Capital Consultant has truly taken the time to understand our organization and our culture and takes both into account when she advises us," Murchison explained. Murchison has also been impressed by the ability of HopeLab's Human Capital Consultant to be responsive to feedback, which he believes is a part of TriNet's professional and customer-centered approach to work.
Murchison and his team continue to be confident in TriNet's services. "If you are a non-profit looking for a professional, full-service outsourcing partner, I would definitely suggest you consider TriNet."
