I chose a career in human resources because whether I was in the United States Army or when I was working for a logistics company, I felt myself gravitating towards the people side of the business. Right now, here at Domain my job is to make the experience for all their employees outstanding every day. Domain Companies is a real estate investment and development company. Once we invest and develop a property, we manage that property.
One of the core values of Domain Companies is enhancing the communities and the lives of people that live in that community. We have approximately ten properties now, primarily involved in New York and in New Orleans, and we're growing. The cofounders developed core values that help us stay focused on what we do best, which is to take care of our employees and the people who live in our community. It takes team work. It's no different than running a marathon. It takes preparation, planning, focus, and there's always somebody behind you helping you.
We partner with TriNet because they help us reduce distractions. We're very busy. Whether it's at the property level or at the corporate level, and what TriNet SOI allows us to do is to focus on what we do best. We utilize their knowledge and skills and know how, particularly in the area of payroll and benefits, to help us get through the day-to-day actions associated with human resources. That also allows me to focus on more of the strategic level items like employee development and work force planning.
Piece of advice I could give to other companies would definitely be to obviously focus on what you do best, and you can also partner with somebody like TriNet that does what they do best. With that partnership and team work you are both going to be successful. The future of Domain Company looks very bright. The company is using their knowledge of the business, their innovative ideas, and they're utilizing the employees, and getting the right people, in the right places, in the right time in order for them to succeed.
