Managing a mix of exempt and non-exempt employees across nine states proved to be a daunting task for FanDuel.
TriNet helps FanDuel remain in compliance with employment-related laws and regulations for each state in which they have a presence.
What started as a backyard Texas brainstorm between five cofounders is now a multibillion-dollar industry. FanDuel offers fantasy sports for NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL to over 30 million adult players in North America. It is the second largest daily fantasy service in the country based on entry fees and user base. FanDuel is based in New York City with offices in California, New Jersey, Florida, Oregon and Scotland.
In the fall of 2018, FanDuel merged with three other companies in the gaming industry. As a result of the merger, FanDuel now had employees across nine states. This created a multitude of issues in consolidating everyone under one company banner. Each of the merged entities were running on a different benefit plan year and operated under a different set of HR policies and procedures. FanDuel counted on support and expertise from TriNet to get all employees on a single plan year, while receiving compliance assistance with state and municipal payroll and labor law requirements. FanDuel can move forward confidently knowing that TriNet has the HR details nailed down.
